WHAT HOME CARE COSTS

Home care with Izzy Care Solutions starts at £24 an hour, and our shortest visit is 30 minutes.

That is our starting rate. What you are quoted depends on your area, how complex the care is, and how long the arrangement runs for. Once we have quoted you a rate, that is the rate you pay. There are no booking fees, no cancellation charges and no mileage costs added on top.

Evenings and weekends are charged at the same rate as weekdays. Only bank holidays are charged at a higher rate, and we will tell you what that is when we quote.

We confirm your rate in writing before any care starts.

What you spend each week depends on how much support is needed. Someone who needs an hour of help getting up in the morning will pay very differently from someone who needs several visits a day. Rather than ask you to guess, we come out, talk it through properly, and give you a clear figure before you commit to anything.

The assessment is free, and there is no obligation

Before any care begins, a member of our team visits you at home. There is no charge for that visit and no commitment to go ahead afterwards.

The visit is how we work out what is genuinely needed — not only the practical tasks, but how someone likes their day to run, what they still want to do for themselves, and what the family is most worried about. You get a clear quote at the end of it.

WHAT AFFECTS YOUR QUOTE

  • How long each visit needs to be, from 30 minutes upwards
  • How many visits you need each week
  • Whether more than one carer is needed for safe moving and handling
  • What times of day you need support
  • Whether you need overnight support or a live-in carer

Support in the evenings and at weekends is charged at the same hourly rate as weekdays. Bank holidays are the one exception and carry a higher rate, which we will confirm in your quote.

It is worth knowing that live-in care and round-the-clock care are not the same thing. A live-in carer lives in the home and sleeps there. Continuous waking care through the night needs a different arrangement, and we will explain the difference when we talk about what is right for you.

HELP WITH PAYING FOR CARE

You may not have to pay the full cost yourself. These are the main routes worth looking into.

Your council

  • Birmingham City Council can carry out a care needs assessment, followed by a financial assessment to work out what you contribute. If you are receiving care in your own home, the value of your home is not counted in that assessment. How the means test works

NHS Continuing Healthcare

  • Some adults assessed as having a primary health need qualify for NHS Continuing Healthcare, where the NHS arranges and pays for care. It requires an NHS assessment. About NHS Continuing Healthcare

Attendance Allowance

  • A benefit for people over State Pension age who need help with personal care. It is not means-tested, so savings and income do not affect it. Check if you are eligible

HOME CARE OR A CARE HOME?

There is no single cheaper option that applies to everyone. It comes down to how many hours of support someone needs. A few visits a week usually costs far less than a residential placement. Round-the-clock support can work out closer.

When you compare the two, include your ongoing household costs alongside the care fees, and account for any overnight or second-carer support you might need. The honest answer is that you need two quotes for the same level of support before you can compare properly.

What home care does offer is staying put — in your own home, your own bed, your own routine, near the people and places you know.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does home care cost in Birmingham?

Home care from Izzy Care Solutions starts at £24 an hour, and our shortest visit is 30 minutes. What you pay each week depends on how long each visit needs to be and how many visits you need. We give you a clear quote after a free visit to your home.

What is the shortest visit you offer?

Our shortest visit is 30 minutes. Many people start with one short visit a day and build from there as needs change. Call us and we will talk through what would work.

Is the assessment really free?

Yes. A member of our team visits you at home, talks through what support is needed and gives you a quote. There is no charge for the visit and no obligation to go ahead.

Are there any extra charges on top of the hourly rate?

No. There are no booking fees, no cancellation charges and no mileage costs. The hourly rate we quote you is what you pay. Optional extras such as deep cleaning, pet care or gardening are priced separately, and only if you ask for them. Evenings and weekends are charged at the same rate as weekdays; only bank holidays carry a higher rate.

Will the council pay for my care?

It depends on a financial assessment carried out by your local council. If you are receiving care in your own home, the value of your home is not included in that assessment. Contact Birmingham City Council to ask for a care needs assessment.

Is home care cheaper than a care home?

There is no single cheaper option for everyone. It depends on how many hours of support you need. When you compare the two, remember to include your ongoing household costs alongside care fees, and to account for any overnight or second-carer support you might need.

Do you cover my area?
